General

What is Silentale?

Simply put: Silentale = Personal CRM + Archive.
Longer version: Silentale automatically consolidates your contacts and messages in a personal, searchable archive, accessible on the web, on your mobile, in your email client or directly on social media sites. You can manage your relationships better because your data is organized so you can find exactly what you’re looking for with a minimum amount of time and effort.

Do you archive everything?

Yes, Silentale archives all your contacts, messages and email attachments, including documents, pictures, videos, etc.

How far do you go back in time?

It depends on your service provider policy (some services like Twitter or Facebook have limitations in time and/or volume), and the plan you've chosen, which determines how much of your message history you can import. Find all the different plans available under Plans & Pricing.

How frequently are you indexing my data?

Silentale scans and indexes data every 30min, every hour or every 3 hours depending on which plan you've chosen. You can view the different plans available here or see which plan you're on directly in your account.

How much does Silentale cost?

Silentale offers both free and paid versions. Find all the different plans available under Plans & Pricing.

What is a connector?

A connector is a secure link between Silentale and the accounts you want to track. It allows us to consolidate and archive your messages and contacts from the services you choose to connect. More info

How do you retrieve my messages?

Silentale connects to your different accounts on a regular basis to capture your messages and/or contacts. As soon as you become a member of Silentale, you will be presented with a list of services you can choose from. For each account you want us to track and archive, you will need to authorize us to connect to it.

Where do all my contacts come from?

We collect contacts from your different sources -address books, friend lists, followers, etc. - and also from your sent emails. To help you organize all your contacts, we added categories. "My Contacts" is a consolidation of the people you know, sorted by categories. "Uncategorized" are the people who sent you a message you never replied to, mostly "the noise" made up of newsletters, spam, automated or service emails, etc.

Security Related

Where do you keep my messages, contacts and files?

Silentale is built on top of Amazon Web Services, the #1 cloud infrastructure. All data is sent using secure encryption, and your messages and attachments are backed up multiple times for maximum protection. Read more on how we protect your data.

Do you need my password to connect to my accounts?

In most cases, no. We just need you to authorize Silentale to connect to your account on your behalf to retrieve your contacts and messages, and your password is not required. Some services, mostly emails, do not yet support this process. In that case, you need to provide your username and password for us to connect to the servers, similar to a mail software like Outlook or Thunderbird. Your credentials will be encrypted and remain secure, and our staff won't have access to them.

Do you share my data with other Silentale users or other companies?

Silentale will not share your personal information or your data with any user or third party, or anybody period. Check our Privacy Policy.

Is it secure?

We use strict security rules to make sure your data is safe and private for your use. This includes, among other processes, data encryption, secured storage and redundancy. Check our Security commitment for more details.

Can you read my messages? See my contact details?

We have no reason to read your messages or look at your contact details. It may occasionally happen that we need to access your data for a technical purpose (e.g. maintenance, support) but this will always be done by trusted team members. Check our Privacy Policy.

What happens when I delete my Silentale account? Do you keep my data?

You can delete your Silentale account whenever you want by going to your account settings and selecting "close account". Once you've requested to close your account, all your data, including contacts, messages and attachments, will be permanently deleted. We won't keep anything and won't be able to re-activate your account or recover your data.

Why do you say that Silentale is in Beta? What does Beta mean?

Silentale is a new product. Although it has been carefully created and tested internally, it has only been recently introduced to the public.
